What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from counting down the days to Avengers: Infinity War to bring you the latest releases to home media for April 10, 2018. In this week’s episode, we discuss the FBI’s Most Wanted, a great actor’s final role, Taraji P. Henson, a team of anti-heroes, an American icon, and a time traveling romance. Let’s get started.
Molly’s Game (R)
Metascore: 71
Based on real events, this film tells the story of Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain), an Olympic-level skier who ran an incredibly exclusive high-stakes poker game for over a decade before getting the attention of the FBI. Her only ally in her quest for freedom is her lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba), and he discovers there’s more to Molly than meets the eye. This film, which also stars Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, and Chris O’Dowd, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD version. This is an intriguing film that has lots of twists and turns. It can’t hurt to give it a watch.
Phantom Thread (R)
Metascore: 90
Set during 1950s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are fashion royalty, dressing royals, movie stars, debutantes, and dames in the trademark style of the House of Woodcock. However, when Reynolds finds love in his latest muse Alma (Vicky Krieps), he has to reconcile his feelings for her and his love for fashion. This film, which also stars Camilla Rutherford, Gina McKee, and Brian Gleeson, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. This is a movie that’s…well…not for everyone. Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greats of his generation, but his eccentricities may not be for everyone. That being said, everyone brings their A game for this film, and I think it’s worth checking out.
Proud Mary (R)

Taraji P. Henson plays Mary, a highly successful hitwoman working for an organized crime family in Boston…as you do. All is well until she meets Danny (Jahi Di’Allo), a young boy she crosses paths with when a hit goes wrong. This begins a new life for Mary which clashes with her old one in spectacular fashion. This film, which also stars Neal McDonough, Danny Glover, and Xander Berkeley, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD + Digital HD version. This film is 89 minutes of action and suspense, and I recommend it for your action kicks.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (R)
Metascore: N/A
The Suicide Squad - Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, and Copperhead - are on a top secret mission. Their mission, which they have no other choice but to accept - is to retrieve a mystical object. Unfortunately, these villains aren’t the only people on the hunt for the magical MacGuffin, and they have to come out on top because the alternative is their death. This film, which features the voices of Christian Slater, Billy Brown, and Vanessa Williams, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD version. DC’s animated movies are generally good, and this isn’t an exception to that rule. I highly recommend it.
The Greatest Showman (PG-13)

Hugh Jackman is legendary showman P.T. Barnum in this biographical musical inspired by the real showman’s life. Barnum starts off as a nobody, but through grit and determination, he creates the phenomenon known worldwide as “The Greatest Show on Earth.” This film, which also stars Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Michelle Williams, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. As a musical, this is great to listen to. As a cinematic spectacle, this is fun to watch. As a historical document, this is the last thing I’d recommend you watch. Barnum may have been a brilliant showman, but he wasn’t a good person. If you can shut off the logical center of your brain, then you’ll enjoy this film. If you can’t, you wont…and I can’t fault you either way.
Outlander: Season Three

Season Three of this drama takes place after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) steps through the stones and returns to 1948, newly pregnant. She has to reconcile being back in the present and her estrangement from her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, Jamie (Sam Heughan), finds himself struggling with his loss at the Battle of Culloden as well as the loss of the love of his life. When Claire finds out she may have a way to get back to Jamie, the race is on to reunite her family. This series, which also stars Duncan Lacroix, Grant O’Rourke, and Graham McTavish, is available in a five disc Blu-ray version and a five disc DVD version. I don’t pretend to understand this show because it peddles on a level of schmaltz I find to be unhealthy, but it is a wildly popular show with a wildly popular premise. So…who am I to judge?
