Saga #44

Previously, in Saga #43

The quest to find medical assistance for Alana’s miscarriage becomes a family affair when she, Marko, and Hazel don disguises to enter The Badlands. Though the fetus passed on spell powers when it died, Alana is also getting extremely sick the longer it’s in there.

They leave Petrichor behind, entrusting her with the ship and a translation ring to talk her way out of any trouble. It’s clear she’s grown fond of the outlaw family, though she pretends otherwise. Still, the rare moment alone with Petrichor reveals she’s been pining over a lost love. She performs a spell, presumably one to mend her broken heart, but really just wants someone to fuck. I knew spending more time with Petrichor would pay off!

Unfortunately, Petrichor has unwittingly walked into the crosshairs of a family of religious zealots. Think: Westboro Church but with guns and they’re centaurs.

The issue ends with another jaw-dropper: Alana awakens from a dream in which her younger self is accused of causing her miscarriage to find that instead of Hazel, she and Marko have a son. Yikes.
