Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to bombard theaters with radiation in 2015, and it has apparently now found its cast in Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, and Jamie Bell.
According to Variety, the cast is half-solidified; while Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan have signed on, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell have not, yet, but will soon do the same. Mara will be playing Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman; Jordan will be Sue’s brother Johnny Storm, the Human Torch; Teller would take the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; and Bell would be the orange hard ass always looking forward to clobberin’ time Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Kate Mara has been around for years; the next film you will see her in is Wally Pfister’s Transcendence, co-starring with Johnny Depp, but you can also see her in Netflix’s House of Cards. Michael B. Jordan is also a name you should recognize from either HBO’s The Wire or two NBC dramas Friday Night Lights and Parenthood; he also starred in one of the best films of 2013 Fruitvale Station, has previously lent his talents to the superhero genre as the voice of Cyborg in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, and has been attached to Fantastic Four for quite a while. You’d be forgiven for perhaps not recognizing either Teller or Bell by name, but you’ve surely seen their work. Teller starred in three recent comedies: Project X, 21 & Over, and That Awkward Moment; the latter of which co-stars Michael B. Jordan. He can next be seen in the Veronica Roth adaptation Divergent. Bell, on the other hand, started his career off with a bang when he starred as the titular character in the smash-hit Billy Elliot; he has since starred in many films, including: Jumper, The Adventures of Tintin, and the recent Snowpiercer adaptation.
The reboot is being produced by Simon Kinberg, Gregory Goodman, and Matthew Vaughn, with a script from Kinberg to be directed by Josh Trank. It is currently scheduled for a June 19, 2015 release.
