On the final day of D23 Expo 2015, various game companies and Disney Interactive divisions disclosed the upcoming slate of products, apps and accessories that will be available in the coming months. If there was a big winner during the presentation, Disney Infinity the popular “toys-to-life” gaming line excited fans in attendance with their soon to be released version 3.0 play sets and character line-ups.
The next great Marvel play set – titled Marvel Battlegrounds – will be released in Spring 2016. This play set will also be the first in the Infinity line to feature a four player co-op that will be available in-game! Additionally, a number of new characters were announced based on Marvel, Star Wars™ and Disney properties.
This November, Ultron and Hulkbuster will be on store shelves, who are equipped with devastating attacks.
Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia and Spot from Disney•Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur will also be featured in the Disney Infinity figure lineup, and playable in the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition’s Toy Box mode. Zootopia and The Good Dinosaur themed Power Disc Packs will also be available in the coming months. Peter Pan was also selected as a “Toy Box Artists Choice”, chosen by the winner of the Disney Infinity Toy Box Summit held earlier this year.
For those kids and young adults that enjoy Disney Infinity and plan to visit any of the Disney Parks and Resorts and Cruise Lines® in the near future can soon gain access to exclusive items for their Toy Box.
Via press release:
Walt Disney World guests will be given exclusive access to the iconic “Disney Partners Statue,” a Toy Box item that can only be unlocked with Walt Disney World’s Magic Band. Starting late October, kids will be able to visit the very first Disney Infinity space featuring Toy Box elements at Disney’s Oceaneer Club on board the Disney Dream ship – a new dedicated interactive space featuring Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition game kiosks and interactive experiences. There will be in-game unlockables exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests who own an Oceaneer Band, including the Disney Dream Ship Toy. In addition, kids will be able to play custom Toy Boxes created by the Disney Infinity team and community members, such as the Castaway Cay Toy Box Environment.
During the Disney Interactive presentation, the next Ultimate Unlock was revealed and is none other than the Keyblade from Square Enix® Kingdom Hearts! Like the previous two Ultimate Unlocks, one must unlock all characters in version 3.0.
As for Star Wars™, the next great play sets – Twilight of the Republic, Rise Against the Empire and The Force Awakens – will be available December 18! All three play sets have a suggested retail price of $64.99 and will feature two characters from their respective trilogy series. Additional characters are sold separately.
But wait, there’s more! In partnership with Playstation, gamers can choose to pre-order a special edition Darth Vader PS4 this Fall with either a Star Wars™ Battlefront or Disney Infinity 3.0 bundle, complete with exclusive content and a game voucher for four classic Star Wars games.
Furthermore, a new set of limited edition Light FX Star Wars™ character figures were unveiled. Available this holiday season, the Lightsabers™ of these select Jedi and Sith will light up when placed onto the Disney Infinity Base. Figures include Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader from Star Wars™ Rise Against the Empire, Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic and Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars™ Rebels.
In a very cool moment near the end of the presentation, The Force Awakens’ John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) made an appearance to unveil their characters for future release in the Disney Infinity line!
As an added bonus, two lucky fans were able to take home their own Finn and Rey to play with their Infinity 3.0 play sets available on August 30!
