12th Doctor Revealed This Weekend? UPDATE: Yes, It’s Happening

UPDATE:  It is definitely happening. BBC One and BBC America have confirmed on their sites and Facebook pages. Check out the trailer below.

While I am afraid to get my hopes up, several sources are reporting that the BBC will broadcast a live special this Sunday, Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor, in which we will meet the actor stepping into the coveted role when Matt Smith leaves at the end of the year.

The buzz is that the event will be hosted by Zoe Ball and feature both Matt Smith and showrunner Steven Moffatt, and of course, the 12th Doctor. The live broadcast begins Sunday, August 4th at 7pm in the UK, 11am PST, and 2pm EST.

Moffatt said. “The decision is made and the time has come to reveal who’s taking over the TARDIS. For the last of the Time Lords, the clock is striking twelve.”

Who do you think the new Doctor will be?
