5 Songs Forever Tied To Movies
ear·worm
/ˈi(ə)rˌwərm/
Noun - A catchy song or tune that runs continually through a person’s mind.
Most are aware of this curiosity even if they do not know the term. What remains unnamed is the less obvious cousin of the earworm - the song that has infected your mind not just with audio loops, but with video replays of a movie featuring the song.
This is to be expected when settling in to watch a film from the musical genre, but what about the movies that develop sneaky song association? Not musical by nature, but when the show is over - the melody remains. From that viewing on, it is impossible to hear the song without at least a passing thought of the film.
Below is a list of 5 Songs Forever Tied to Movies. I said A LIST OF 5 - not LIST OF THE 5, not LIST OF Top 5 - simply a list of 5. Why 5, you ask? Because that’s what Nina said. And I’m extrememly indecisive so I take direction well. Plus, you can only torture people with earworms so long before you start feeling like a total jerk……
I’ll agree with everything except one, and I have an addition to Ferris. Tom Petty’s “American Girl”, for me, is forever tied to Silence of the Lambs.
“Twist and Shout”, for me, will always tied to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
I love your posts by the way.
That Story Book Story song by Mark Knofler for Princess Bride.
Oh, definitely.
What, no Breakfast Club and Simple Minds’ Don’t You (Forget About Me)?
