We knew it was coming, but it didn’t hurt any less when BBC confirmed Matt Smith’s departure from Doctor Who. He’ll be hanging up his bow tie, fez, and sonic screwdriver in this year’s 50th anniversary special. While the rest of the world has been busy speculating who will snag the coveted role as the 12th Doctor, Matt Smith took the time to deliver this heartfelt message to the fans.
