Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S2E20 - Scars
Previously on S.H.I.E.L.D., ‘The Dirty Half Dozen’
The Avengers: Age of Ultron debuted this past weekend. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. So don’t spoil it for me; I haven’t seen it yet. I picked up on several references made about the movie in this episode and was glad it wasn’t too spoilery for those who haven’t seen the movie.
Flashback to a year ago, Coulson meets up with Sam Koenig, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, at an undisclosed location. Sam and Coulson discuss how everyone is doing. Simmons is fitting in well with Hydra, Fitz is making progress, Skye is training with May, Tripp is on board full-time, May thinks Coulson is on a recruitment trip in London, and there is no sign of Gonzales. Sam reminds Coulson about Theta Protocol, and shows him a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier being rebuilt.
Present day on the helicarrier, Coulson meets with the S.H.I.E.L.D. council to suggest letting him remain as Director under the supervision of the council.
Fitz and Simmons are watching as Skye sits by Lincoln’s bedside waiting for him to wake up. Simmons checks on Agent 33, now going by her former name, Agent Kara Palamas. Agent Palamas’ brain scans seem good even though she may still have memory gaps.
The lights flicker in the lab as Lincoln awakes. He is upset that Skye took him to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Gordon visits Raina. She is learning to embrace her gift and has found peace. She shares with him a vision of a stone that is not a stone and something about an ocean. What? Gordon questions her more about the stone.
Raina and Gordon meet with Jiaying to learn what she knows about the stone. Jiaying tells them the stone is of Kree origin made to destroy their people. Even though the Kree created their people, the Kree believed them to be a mistake to be destroyed. Using Gordon’s power of teleportation and Raina’s knowledge of where the stone may be located, they convince Jiaying to let them go together in search of the stone.
Gordon senses the stone’s location is on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier. He teleports himself and Raina there. Hunter discovers the two, and Gordon teleports them to another part of the helicarrier. They come across a red door Raina remembers from her vision. Inside, they discover the stone. The stone changes to a liquid form and then back to a solid. May and Bobbi arrive armed with guns, Gordon teleports himself and Raina back to Afterlife. When I grow up, I want to be a kick-ass bitch like May and Bobbi.
Jiaying meets with Cal to get more information about Raina. She sees Raina as a threat. Cal remembers Raina being deceptive, selfish, and always demanding more. Gordon and Raina report what they saw. Cal is skeptical and Jiaying is determined they will remain safe. In the meantime, Raina tries to convince Gordon that Jiaying is weak and should not meet with Coulson. Raina wants to be the one who is at the meeting. Both Jiaying and Raina have major control issues. They both need to take a Xanax and shut the hell up.
Later, Gordon, Jiaying, and Skye tell Raina that she uses her powers to manipulate others. No one trusts her. They leave her with a guard.
Coulson and the other agents discuss what they know about the stone. They know Hydra is looking for it, and so are the Inhumans. Skye and Lincoln know nothing about the stone. Coulson and May wonder why Gordan and Raina showed up on a S.H.I.E.L.D. vessel. Skye defends the Inhumans to Coulson. She says they are afraid of being attacked and want to keep their location a secret.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. council plan to track the teleporter back to the secret location. They consider the Inhumans a huge threat and want to attack. Coulson disagrees. He wants a meeting with Jiaying. Skye asks to return and smooth the way with her mother and Coulson approves. Skye and Lincoln leave the helicarrier. Gonzales decides to be the one to meet with Jiaying leaving Coulson at headquarters.
May tells Bobbi they are to leave immediately. The others will follow. Mack finds Coulson and quits S.H.I.E.L.D. He will not work for S.H.I.E.L.D. with Coulson as Director. Cal doesn’t want S.H.I.E.L.D. to meet with Jiaying. Cal tells her to give him to S.H.I.E.L.D. It will be a gesture from the Inhumans that they mean no harm.
May and Bobbi are discussing their lives in S.H.I.E.L.D. When May goes to the back of the jet, Bobbi asks about the autopilot landing early. May pulls a gun on her and a major fight ensues. It is not May, Bobbi is fighting with, it is Kara who took on May’s identity. The jet lands while Bobbi wins the battle. She steps off the jet and Ward shoots her with an I.C.E.R. (Incapacitating Cartridge Emitting Railgun). Kara and Ward are happy to see each other. Back on the jet, Ward tells Kara closure is about digging deeper and doing the work. He will show her what he means and then kill Bobbi.
The real May, Gonzales, and his crew arrive to meet with Jiaying. Jiaying tells Gonzales that she is returning Cal to them as a sign of good faith. Skye goes to the jet with Cal. As the agents on the jet are checking Cal for weapons, they find vials with a yellow-green liquid in them. They ask what’s in the vials, but Cal only shrugs.
Both Gonzales and Jiaying are suspicious of each other as they discuss what each group wants. Gonzales gives Jiaying a gift, a good luck charm she had lost long ago. She also has a gift for Gonzales. She takes out a blue Terrigen crystal, one that helps the Inhumans transform. She breaks the crystal on the table and a mist surrounds Gonzales. I knew that hag was shady.
He begins to choke as his body gradually changes. She is appalled that he compared his physical scars to hers. He tries to shoot Jiaying, but he turns into rock. Jiaying says she will never let her people go through the torment she suffered. As she rips the gun from him, his fingers crumble. Jiaying takes the gun and shoots herself twice in the shoulder. She stumbles out of the house saying S.H.I.E.L.D. tried to kill her.
This means war.
