Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S2E21/S2E22 - S.O.S. Part 1 & 2

Previously on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ‘Scars’

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. delivered a solid season finale with the women providing the best - and most badass - moments.

Bobbi, Ward, May, and Hunter

Ward and Kara quickly let Bobbi know why she’s being held: They’re going to torture her until she apologizes for giving up the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse to prove herself to HYDRA, which caused Kara to be captured and mind controlled. Bobbi looks at them like, “Bring it.” She didn’t know Kara was in the safehouse, but she made the right call and she’d do it again. They put pins under her fingers after numbing her hand. When the drug wears off, Bobbi feels the pain, but doesn’t give in.

Alone with Ward, Bobbi manages to escape and beats his ass down a hallway until Kara shows up. Then she fights them both. Epic. Eventually, she’s knocked down and Kara has an opportunity to shoot her in the head, but the defiant look on her face causes Kara to stop. She knows Bobbi doesn’t care if she dies. That’s not satisfying. Ward has another idea.

They set up a booby trap once they realize May and Hunter are headed to rescue Bobbi. When the door to the room she’s in is opened, the person will be shot and killed. Once May and Hunter arrive, they split up to search the building. May tricks Kara into taking on her face, which causes Ward to shoot and kill her, believing she’s May. Hunter begins to open the door to Bobbi’s room, and she rocks her chair so she takes the bullet instead. May and Hunter rush her back to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

Syke, Coulson, Mack, Fitz, and Simmons

We quickly learn the full extent of Jiaying’s deception: While Skye tends to her mother, Jiaying sends Gordon and others to take over one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s aircrafts and fire on Afterlife. May heads to get more information and see Gonzalez, but encounters Skye. She’s a tad ticked off her mother was shot and feels betrayed by S.H.I.E.L.D. She refuses to let May pass and the two fight. Skye may have come a long way, but she’s no match for May, and has to use her quake power to knock May out.

Jiaying and Gordon gloat over how well their plan is going and then she sucks the life out of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in order to heal.

Next, Skye visits Raina to ask if she had a vision of what’s to come. She has, but she knows Skye won’t believe her. Raina points out similar they are and then tells Skye her mother is the problem. Skye is meant to lead the Inhumans - not Jiaying. Then Raina says they’ll never speak again.

When Jiaying meets with Raina, she’s surprised to learn of the vision showing Skye as the leader. Raina calls her out on her deception, and Jiaying responds by stabbing her in the neck. Skye witnesses the murder, but while she’s mid-rant, she’s knocked out by one of Jiaying’s men.

Cal may have answers so he’s taken to Coulson. He took whatever was in those vials he had and while being questioned by Coulson, Cal turns into a mini Hulk-like creature. He chases Coulson, Fitz, and Simmons through the base and is only stopped when Coulson pins him to the wall…. with a car. Coulson manages to calm him and Cal confesses he knew Jiaying was a problem and that he changed himself to be worthy of her. He supplied her with a village of people to feed from, but it was never enough. In the end, he agrees to help Coulson stop her.

Jiaying has used Cal as a distraction and taken over the S.H.I.E.L.D. ship. She didn’t count on Mack, aboard because he was preparing to leave SHIELD. He frees Skye from her cell and the two plan to keep the Inhumans from obtaining the alien substance held in the giant case.

Lincoln realizes he’s basically working for the devil. Gordon tells him to get his mind right, but Lincoln switches sides and helps May (back from rescuing Bobbi) in taking down a redhead Inhuman who can duplicate herself.

Skye confronts her mother who’s about to steal a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane to infect people with the Terrigen crystals. When Jiaying realizes Skye is not about that murdering people life, she starts to suck the life out of her. Skye is able to use her power long enough to push the plane with the crystals into the ocean. Just as Jiaying grabs her again, Cal appears and kills Jiaying so Skye won’t have to.

Coulson, Fitz, and Mack guard the containers of crystals against Gordon, who is trapped in the room thanks to a device Fitz. Once they’re able to kill him, he drops one of the crystals and Coulson dives to catch it, which he does. But then his arms begins to harden and Mack cuts part of his arm off before it can spread.
