Black Panther and the Crew #4

Previously, in Black Panther and the Crew #3

The more things change, the more they stay the same. In 1964 Mississippi Ezra’s team of superheroes, The Crusade, made sure a Klan member who murdered three black civil rights workers faced justice. Today, Luke Cage and Misty Knight are unraveling the web of deceit and corruption in Harlem and finding none other than HYRDRA at the center of it.

Misty’s lead on Eddie Figures brings her to Luke’s doorstep just as he’s attacked by HYDRA agents who commit suicide before he can beat answers out of them. When they finally track down Eddie, he reveals he was Ezra Keith’s cellmate, and the last person to see him alive — besides his killer(s). This was enough to send Eddie into hiding, first leading the spooks following him to Luke’s place (hence the attack) as a trick.

Luke and Misty then confront Paul Keane, a bigwig at Paragon Industries, the parent company behind the Renaissance building Ezra was protesting. They’re also responsible for the Americops that attacked Misty and Storm, but were suspiciously absent when Luke’s apartment was bombed. Keane is all side-stepping and smooth talk; a sure sign he’s full of it, but is he involved in Ezra’s death?

Unfortunately for all who hold the answers, Luke Cage is officially in the game to find out.

Next time: Manifold!
