What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from watching Daredevil on Netflix to bring you the newest releases to home media for April 14, 2015. In this week’s episode, we discus New York City in 1981, a very creepy horror movie that I will never watch, a not so creepy horror movie that I will never watch, the latest entry in the DC Animated Universe, and . Ready to get going? Let’s get to it.

The American Dream is one of the most sought-out dreams in all the world. So, when immigrant Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac) comes to America with his family to seek out that dream in early 80s New York, they come face to face with an unparalleled amount corruption and violence; so much so, that it threatens to destroy everything they hold dear. This movie, which also stars Jessica Chastain, David Oyelowo, and Albert Brooks, is available in both a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. The performances in this film are amazing, the story is intense, and it is my pick of the week.
The Babadook (R)

Amelia (Essie Davis) is having a rough go at it. Six years after her husband’s gruesome death, she’s struggling to raise her “out of control” son Samuel (Noah Wiseman). Samuel is dreaming about things…horrible, evil things. When a book called “The Babadook” shows up at their house, things start to happen that go to show that nightmares are real. This movie, which also stars Barbara West and Tim Purcell, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy Special Edition, a single disc Blu-ray version, and a single disc DVD version. I don’t care how critically acclaimed this movie is, I don’t care how good it is, I don’t care how many people rant and rave about it…I don’t do horror. Y’all have at it; I’m gonna pass.
The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (PG-13)

The same evil entity that haunted Daniel Radcliffe is back, and this time, the titular woman has her eyes set on a group of orphans and their caretakers Eve (Phoebe Fox) and Jean (Helen McCrory) who have moved into the Eel Marsh House. When the children start coming up missing, Eve makes a discovery that shows that maybe she didn’t move into this house by coincidence. This movie, which also stars Jeremy Irvine, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version. I don’t think I’ll be watching this movie, either, but my horror fans out there can enjoy it.
Batman vs. Robin (PG-13)
In the latest Batman and Robin storytelling, Batman (Jason O’Mara) has taken on a new Robin; his son Damian (Stuart Allen). When the dynamic duo investigates a crime in the mean streets of Gotham City, they come face to face with Talon (Jeremy Sisto) and the Court of Owls. In solving this case, they will eventually have to face their greatest enemy: each other. This movie, which also stars Kevin Conroy, Robin Atkin Downes, and “Weird Al” Yankovich is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version with a collectible Batman figurine, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version, and a single disc DVD version. If anything, this movie will be something to see for Kevin Conroy fans; they get to see their generation’s Batman play someone not named Batman. This is also a fitting addition to the DC Animated Universe.
The Missing: Season One
The fear of every parent is to have their child go missing. When this happens to Tony Hughes’ (James Nesbit) son Oliver, he teams up with Detective Julien Baptiste (Tchéky Karyo) to solve the mystery of his lost son. Along the way, this threatens to destroy the relationship with his wife Emily (Francis O’Connor) and opens up a world that he may not really be ready for. This series, which also stars Jason Flemyng, Ken Stott, and Diana Quick, is available in both a two disc Blu-ray version and a two disc DVD version. This is a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and it’s worth watching until the very end.
