What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from playing way too much Sunset Overdrive to bring you the latest releases to home media for April 19, 2016. In this week’s episode, we discuss martial arts mastery, Leo versus a bear, the end of a show as we know it, and the most interesting Vice President in the world. Ready to get started? Let’s go.
Ip Man 3 (PG-13)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 81%
Donnie Yen reprises the role that made him a star. As the eponymous Ip Man, the man who mentored Bruce Lee goes up against a greedy property developer (Mike Tyson) who is dead set on making the city in his own image. With Master Ip on the scene, there is one thing that is certain: fists will fly. This film, which also stars Chen Chao, Lynn Hung, and Jin Zhang, is available in a single disc Blu-ray version and a single disc DVD version. The Ip Man films are classics in martial arts cinema, and this entry is no exception to the rule. I recommend it to anyone you know who may be a big fan of the genre or just a fan of martial arts as a whole.
The Revenant (R)

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Hugh Glass, a legendary explorer who gets caught up in a bad way in this film inspired by true events. He has to survive a bear mauling, betrayal by a member of his hunting team named John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), the cold of the Alaskan winter, and plenty of heartbreak to get his vengeance on the man who wronged him. This film, which also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Forrest Goodluck, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. Leo has been a fan favorite for years, and this is the role that netted the actor his first Oscar statuette. His performance is great, the film is cinematically beautiful, and it is bloody. But, if you can get over the bloodiness, it’s still worth your time, and it’s my pick of the week.
Haven: The Final Season
The town of Haven, Maine gets set for its greatest battle yet. Cut off from the rest of the world thanks to a mysterious fog bank, the citizens have to try to rid itself of “The Troubles” throughout time, as well as solving the mystery of the “Croatoan.” This series, which stars Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, and Adam Copeland, is available in a three disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. All good things must come to an end, and this show - based on the Stephen King novella The Colorado Kid - is no exception. If you’ve been a fan from the beginning, this will be a satisfying conclusion.
Veep: The Complete Fourth Season
Selena Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) has ascended to the highest office in the land, and may God bless the Union. Even though she is now President, she still has to run for election, and her staff has the daunting task of making her look presidential while trying to find someone to serve as her Vice President. This is gonna be good. This series, which also stars Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, and Matt Walsh, is available in a two disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a two disc DVD version. Veep has consistently been one of the funniest shows on TV, and this season isn’t an exception to the rule. Watch and laugh; you’ll be glad you did.
