BluTuesday - August 12, 2014
Bonjour, ProFans! Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from watching NFL Preseason football reruns to bring you the latest releases in home media for August 12, 2014. In this week’s episode, we discuss Batman, the once and future Ultron, sexy werewolves, and young superheros. All ready to rock? Well, let’s get to it, then.
Batman: Assault on Arkham [Blu-ray]
This movie from the DC Animated Universe is the first to jump into the waters of the Arkahm videogame universe. Batman is forced to find a bomb hidden by the Joker, while tackling Amanda Waller’s elite force known as The Suicide Squad. Featuring the voices of Kevin Conroy, Eliza Dushku, Neal McDonough, and CCH Pounder, this movie is available in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. I would try to sprout some platitudes about this movie, but…it’s Batman, it’s Kevin Conroy, and it’s the pick of the week.
James Spader plays Raymond Reddington, one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. Reddington turns himself in, but he only says he’ll work with rookie profiler Elizabeth Keen. The two work together to take out terrorists and other criminals Reddington has researched over two decades and placed on what he calls…the blacklist. This series is available in both a five disc Bluray + Digital Copy version and a five disc DVD version. James Spader is sufficiently unnerving in this role, and it is highly recommended.
Hoping to escape a life she never asked for, Elena leaves her pack - as well as the person who turned her into a werewolf - and sets out to live a life of her own in a new city, becoming a photographer and forging a new romance. But, it’s never that easy to leave, as deaths in her pack are forcing her to reconsider her current path in order to help exact justice. Based on the Women of the Otherworld series of books and starring Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, V), this series is available in both a four disc Bluray version and a four disc DVD version. This may be for some people, but I think I’m gonna skip this one.
Young Justice: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray]
Featuring Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis, this series centers around the young crimefighters as they work on becoming great superheros as well as growing into the people they are destined to be. This series is available in a two disc Bluray version, and it is definitely worth your time.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss something you wanted to discuss? Feel free to hit me up in the comments section below.
Until next time…
