BluTuesday - December 19, 2017

What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from recuperating from a recent trip to bring you the latest releases to home media for December 19, 2017. In this week’s episode, we discuss a story of heroism, the history of the world, and LEGO. Let’s get to it.

Dunkirk (PG-13)
Metascore: 94

Based on the harrowing true story, this film tells the story of WWII-era British and Allied troops trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk while under attack by Axis forces. With nothing left, the British government enlists small boats manned by both military forces and civilians to save as many people as they can. This film, which stars Fionn Whitehead, Kenneth Branagh, and Tom Hardy, is available in a two-disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version and a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version. This is a movie that packs a lot in its 107-minute runtime, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.

mother! (R)
Metascore: 74

Mother (Jennifer Lawrence) and Him (Javier Bardem) live a peaceful and tranquil life in a well-kept house. However, when Man (Ed Harris) and Woman (Michelle Pfeiffer) come by to visit, Mother has to try to keep her home pristine, whereas Him is doing everything but. This film, which also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Kristin Wiig, and Patricia Summersett, is available in a two-disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. This movie is…this movie is pretentious as all get out. If you’re a Darren Aronofsky fan, then this might be right up your alley. I’m not, so it ain’t. Your mileage may vary.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie (PG)
Metascore: 55

Lloyd (Dave Franco) is your average high school student by day. By night, he is the legendary Green Ninja who patrols NINJAGO City fighting crime. Following the lead of the legendary Master Wu (Jackie Chan), he has to take down evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux) who happens to not only be the Worst Guy Ever, but he’s also Lloyd’s dad. Awkward… This film, which also stars Abbi Jacobson, Michael Pena, and Fred Armisen, is available in a two-disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. Well…they tried. This wasn’t a bad movie, but it wasn’t a good movie, either. Ultimately, it exists, and that might be more than enough for your kids.

That’s all I’ve got for this week. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss something you wanted to discuss? Feel free to hit me up in the comments section below. From my family to yours, have a very Merry Christmas.

Until next time…
