What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from playing too much Destiny - as if there’s such a thing - to bring you the newest releases to home media for December 8, 2015. In this week’s episode, we discuss the world’s smallest superhero, talking chicken nuggets, nosy hunters, a deliciously cooked meal, and Stephen King silliness. Ready to get started? Let’s get to it.
Ant-Man (PG-13)

Freshly released from prison after committing a Robin Hood crime, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) struggles to make ends meet so he can spend time with his daughter again. But, when Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) comes to him with one last job, he has to take the mantle of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s smallest and deadliest superhero; he has to become the Ant-Man. This film, which also stars Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, and Michael Peña, is available in a two disc 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray + Digital Copy version, a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy, and a single disc DVD version. Going into this movie, I wasn’t entirely skeptical - because I’m admittedly in the tank for Marvel Studios - but I was curious to see what they were going to do. What they ended up doing exceeded my expectations. They created a superhero heist movie, and I’m all in for that. This movie is my pick of the week, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the character next.
Minions (PG)

Since the beginning of time, the Minions have searched out the biggest and the baddest to serve under. They want nothing more than to be subservient to the era’s big bad; be it the Tyrannosaurus Rex or Napoleon Bonaparte, they are eager to be led. But, after failure after failure, the Minions are unable to keep a good leader; that is, until they meet Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock). They join her on a truly evil quest, but things take a turn for the worst, and it’s up to them to inadvertently save the day. This film, which also stars Michael Keaton, Jon Hamm, and Allison Janney, is available in a three disc 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version, and a single disc DVD version. This is a movie for kids of a certain age, and I think that age is 5 and below; I base this off the fact that my four year old daughter recognizes them immediately. I’d recommend it for people of that age, either literally or figuratively. Anybody else, be sure to have a stiff drink handy.
The Transporter Refueled (PG-13)

Frank Martin (Ed Skrein) is living a life - if not necessarily the life. Transporting questionable packages for questionable people is a far cry from the spec ops career he had before, but it’s a living. However, when his father (Ray Stevenson) pays him a visit, they get an unwelcome job from Anna (Loan Chabanol) a sultry femme fatale. She needs his expertise to pull off a bank job against the Russian mafia, and that never ends well. This film, which also stars Gabriella Wright, Noémie Leonir, and Tatiana Pajkovic, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. This is a franchise Jason Statham walked away from; do you really wanna follow this without him? If so, have at it. If not, then move on.
Hannibal: Season Three
Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is at it again in this final season of the acclaimed TV hit. This year, he’s on the run in Europe with his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson), but Will (Hugh Dancy) and Jack (Laurence Fishburne) are hot on his trail. These three forces will eventually converge, and may the deity of your choice have mercy on your soul when it happens. This series, which also stars Caroline Dhavernas, Hettiene Park, and Scott Thompson, is available in a three disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a four disc DVD + Digital Copy version. This was a brutal series, but it was great to watch. Give it a look; you might like it.
Under the Dome: Season Three
With the third season of this Stephen King series, the lines between friend and enemy blur even further than before. The people of Chester’s Mill try to move on after a life-changing event in the tunnels underneath the town, but a newcomer and an opportunistic corporation move in and threaten to change things for the worse. This series, which stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, and Dean Norris, is available in a four disc Blu-ray version and a four disc DVD version. Well, this was a thing that happened. It was here, and now it’s gone. It was a surprise that this hackneyed concept lasted three seasons, but what do I know? Check it out and judge for yourself.
