What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from thawing out on the Gulf Coast to bring you the latest releases to home media for January 9, 2018. In this week’s episode, we discuss teen horror, real horror, and an American hero. Let’s get to work.

Laura (Alycia Debnam-Carey) is your typical college student: partying it up, living her young life to the fullest, and sharing it all on Facebook…as you do. However, when she accepts a friend request from her classmate Marina (Liesl Ahlers), she sets in motion a curse that could cost her everything - including her own life. This film, which also stars Brit Morgan, William Moseley, and Connor Paolo, is available in a single disc Blu-ray + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD version. Look, I get it: social media is evil. I mean, there have been moments where I’ve considered permanently walking away myself. But, this is…what?! I mean, I guess…I got nothin’. Sorry.

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, this tells the story of the town of Derry, Maine. When kids start disappearing, a group of kids are forced to face their biggest fears when they go up against the murderous clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). This film, which also stars Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Nicholas Hamilton, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version and a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version. Look, I’m not even about to lie to y’all: I didn’t darken my theater’s doorstep to watch this movie. But, everyone who’s seen it that I’ve talked to has loved it, so it gets the highest of recommendations from them.
Marshall (PG-13)

Inspired by true events, this film tells the story of a young Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) serving as an attorney for the NAACP and one of his groundbreaking cases. In it, he’s forced to work alongside Sam Friedman (Josh Gad), a young attorney with no experience serving as a criminal lawyer in order to defend Joseph Spell (Sterling K. Brown). Spell was accused of sexual assault and attempted murder by his employer Eleanor Strubing (Kate Hudson). Marshall has to overcome racial biases from the small town and defend his client to the fullest of his abilities. This film, which also stars Dan Stevens, James Cromwell, and Keesha Sharp, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD version. Chadwick Boseman is electric as Marshall, and Josh Gad is great as a young lawyer trying to find his way. Give this a watch.
