BluTuesday - June 11th, 2013

What’s good, people? Joseph here, and I’ve got the newest BluRay releases for June 11th, 2013 for you. This week’s episode features badass fairy tales, witches and shysters, and an exclusive coming to the masses. All set? Let’s get it started.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (NR - Note: the original movie was rated R)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 14%

After getting a taste for blood as children, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have become the ultimate vigilantes, hell-bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches…their past. This action packed movie comes in a three disc 3D BluRay/2D BluRay/DVD set, a two disc BluRay/DVD set, and a single disc DVD set. This movie is completely off the rails, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and it’s completely worth checking out. So, hop to it.

Oz the Great and Powerful (PG-13)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 59%

Disney’s fantastical adventure Oz The Great And Powerful, from the director of the Spider-Man trilogy, follows Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics. When Diggs is hurled away to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot — until he meets three witches (Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams), who aren’t convinced he’s the great wizard everyone’s expecting. Reluctantly drawn into epic problems facing Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it’s too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity — and even some wizardry — Oscar transforms himself into the great wizard and a better man as well. This movie comes in a 3D BluRay/2D BluRay/DVD set, a BluRay/DVD set, and a DVD set. This movie is stunning, the performances are beautiful, and it is my pick of the week.

House of Cards: The Complete First Season

Ruthless and cunning, Congressman Francis Underwood and his wife Claire stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama penetrates the shadowy world of greed, sex, and corruption in modern D.C. Kate Mara and Corey Stoll costar in the first original series from David Fincher and Beau Willimon. This series comes in both a four disc BluRay and four disc DVD versions. This is a series that is captivating and exciting, and I highly recommend checking it out.

That’s all I got for now. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss anything? Hit me up in the comments section below.

Until next time…
