BluTuesday - March 22, 2016

What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from doing my rendition of binge watching Daredevil to bring you the latest releases to home media for March 22, 2016. In this week’s episode, we discuss a screwball comedy, and the odds not really being in your favor. This is a light week, but no less interesting, so let’s get started.

Daddy’s Home (PG-13)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 30%

Brad (Will Ferrell) is a pretty nice guy; he’s got a decent job, he’s married a good woman named Sara (Linda Cardellini), and he loves her kids from another marriage. However, when Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) shows back up and tries to get back into his kids’ lives, Brad feels threatened and has to take drastic measures to prove that he loves them. This film, which also stars Thomas Hayden Church, Hannibal Buress, and Owen Vaccaro, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. Ferrell and Wahlberg struck comedy gold with The Other Guys, and I don’t even like comedic films that much. If you do, then this will be right up your alley.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (PG-13)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 70%

Panem is in a state of war. After the events of Mockingjay - Part 1, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), and a group of rebels storm the Capitol in an attempt to take down President Snow (Donald Sutherland) once and for all. Along the way, she grows up a lot faster than anyone should, and these events promise to change the nation forever. This film, which also stars Julianne Moore, Gwendolyn Christie, and Woody Harrelson, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version, a single disc DVD version, and a six disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy complete collection. This franchise got better and better with each film, and this one will blow you away. This film is my pick of the week, if only for how it - much like the source material - is unafraid to throw caution to the wind.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss anything you wanted to discuss? Please feel free to hit me up in the comments section below.

Until next time…
