What’s going on, ProFans? Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from gushing over my Xbox One (seriously; it’s awesome) to bring you the latest releases in home media for March 25, 2014. In this episode, we talk about Leo DiCaprio, another movie about people seeing dead people, and a time-travelling police procedural. All good? Let’s go for broke, then.
The Wolf of Wall Street (R)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 77%
Revered filmmaker Martin Scorsese directs the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking, and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough. This movie comes in both a two-disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single-disc DVD version. This film is spectacular in its hubris, and DiCaprio gives a splendidly outrageous performance. In fact, everyone in this film is over the top, and it would be insulting if they weren’t. I’m gonna gleefully give this movie my pick of the week, and recommend that you check it out as soon as possible.
Odd Thomas (R)

Small-town fry cook Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) is an ordinary guy with a paranormal secret: he sees dead people, everywhere. When a creepy stranger shows up with an entourage of ghostly bodachs - predators who feed on pain and portend mass destruction - Odd knows that his town is in serious trouble. Teaming up with his sweetheart Stormy (Addison Timlin) and the local sheriff (Willem Dafoe), Odd plunges into an epic battle of good vs evil to try to stop a disaster of apocalyptic proportions. Based on the best-selling thriller by Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas is a supernatural action thrill-ride from the acclaimed director of The Mummy and G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra (I add, parenthetically, like THOSE are great choices to hedge your bets on…and I like both movies). This movie comes in both a two-disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single-disc DVD version. I like Anton Yelchin, and I think Willem Dafoe would make a great supervillain in a better Marvel movie, but I’m gonna pass on this one.
Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), a cop from the year 2077, finds herself trapped in the present day desperately trying to stop a terrorist group from the future before they can change the course of history forever. In Season 2, Kiera continues her uneasy alliance with Vancouver Police Detective Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster) and grapples with the big question: why was she sent here? Meanwhile, tech genius Alec (Erik Knudsen) struggles to understand the mysterious message sent from his future self and the terrorists, Liber8, becomes more strategic-and even more lethal. From its stunning first minutes to its explosive season finale, don’t miss the thrilling next chapter in Continuum: Season Two. This series comes in both a three-disc Bluray version and a three-disc DVD version. I’ve never heard of this series, but I think I’ll see if I can find it streaming somewhere. It looks interesting enough to give it a try. I think you should do the same.
