What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from avoiding the outside as much as possible (there are PEOPLE out there!) to bring you the latest releases to home media for March 27, 2018. In this week’s episode, we discuss a wild trip to the jungle, acapella groups like you’ve seen before, revisiting that galaxy far, far, away, mutants, and hackers. Let’s get to it.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG-13)

When four high school kids wind up in detention and dust off an old video game, they find themselves embroiled in the adventure of a lifetime. Gamer Spencer (Alex Wolff) finds himself in the game as brawny adventurer Dr. Smoulder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson), jock Anthony (Ser’Darius Blain) finds himself as the diminutive zoologist and weapons expert Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, wallflower Martha (Morgan Turner) becomes the deadly commando Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan), and popular girl Bethany (Madison Iseman) takes the form of archaeologist Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon (Jack Black). Together, they have to brave the world of Jumanji and come out of it alive, finding out more about each other in the process. This film, which also stars Bobby Cannavale, Marc Evan Jackson, and Missi Pyle, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD + Digital HD version. When word of this movie came out, I was skeptical. However, upon seeing it for myself, the movie is great! It’s lots of fun, and I recommend it.
Pitch Perfect 3 (PG-13)

After graduating from college and joining the real world, the Barden Bellas are finding a World Championship in a capella doesn’t necessarily net you experience in finding a job you love. However, fortune smiles upon them as they’re invited to perform in a European USO tour, thus giving the ladies one last chance to go out on top. This film, which stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Hailee Steinfeld, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. Well…I guess there are worse ways to go out. Everyone seems to be having a good time here, so…vaya con dios.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (PG-13)

Set almost immediately after the events of the last movie, the remainders of the Resistance - led by General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) is set to take on the First Order. Rey (Daisy Ridley) is ready to learn how to be a Jedi Knight at the hands of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Ben Kenobi, aka Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), is doggedly trying to find Rey and impress Emperor Snoke (Andy Serkis). Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is being Poe Dameron. And a newly not-incapacitated Finn (John Boyega) teams up with Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) on a top secret mission. Things go awry and a bunch of raucous space battles ensue. This film, which also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Laura Dern, and Benicio Del Toro, is available in a three disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. This movie turned your notions of the Force, the Jedi, and the Sith on its head, and - even though the middle drags a bit - is not only a worthy addition to your Star Wars collection, but it’s just a damn good movie. I highly recommend it, controversy be damned.
Legion: Season One
Metascore: 82
Based on Marvel Comics characters created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, this series tells the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), a young man who was diagnosed with schizophrenia but might be something much more. Along with Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) and Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a demanding yet nurturing therapist, he will find out if he’s about to take the next step in human evolution. This series, which also stars Rachel Keller, Bill Irwin, and Jeremie Harris, is available in a two disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. See? If left to their own devices, Fox really CAN make a good X-Men installment. Give this a watch.
Mr. Robot: Season Three

Following the explosive events of last season, season three of the acclaimed USA Network show finds the main cast at a crossroads. With Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) and Elliot (Rami Malek) watching their relationship disintegrate, the main question on everyone’s minds is where do we go from here? This series, which also stars Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, and Michael Cristofer, is available in a three disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. This is how you do a techno thriller, and I can’t wait to see how it wraps up. Give it a watch; you won’t be disappointed.
