What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from playing Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag to bring you the latest releases to home media for March 3, 2015. In this week’s episode, we discuss wrestling, fantasy TV, and the last film of both Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney. All set to go? Let’s get started, then.

Foxcatcher [Blu-ray]

Based on the real life story of Mark Schultz, this movie tells the story of what really would have happened to JK Simmons’ character in Whiplash. Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) is a Gold-medal Olympian who has turned into a nobody living in Wisconsin. He happens upon John du Pont (Academy Award nominee Steve Carell) who offers to help train him for the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He goes to California to train, but Mark’s issues come back to haunt him in the form of his brother Dave (Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo). So begins the story of tragedy and how one man’s quest for fortune and glory can override everything. This film, which also stars Sienna Miller, Vanessa Redgrave, and Anthony Michael Hall, is available in both a single disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. This movie is phenomenal in two ways: first, it shows that the Charming Potato can actually act when his mind is put to it, and that Steve Carell is more than pratfalls. This movie is my pick of the week, and it gets no better than this.

Outlander: Season One - Volume One

British combat nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) comes home from World War II and is reunited with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies). They embark on a second honeymoon, and Claire finds herself transported back in time to the war between the Redcoats and the Highlander rebels when she goes on a leisurely stroll through the British Isles. In trying to figure out what happened, she falls in love with James “Jamie” Fraser (Sam Heughan) after being forced to marry him, because reasons. This sets Claire on a course she may not be able to correct. This series, which also stars Gary Lewis, Graham McTavish, and James Fleet, is available in a two disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy version, a two disc Blu-ray + Digital Copy collector’s edition, and a single disc DVD version. If you like your swashes to be buckled, you can’t go wrong with this series. Plus, Menzies acts for two; how cool is that?

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb [Blu-ray]

All things must come to an end, and so must this franchise. Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), a humble night security guard at the Smithsonian Institute must travel the world in search of a way to keep the magic of the museum alive. Along the way, he reunites with old friends, makes new ones, and clashes with Dr. McPhee (Ricky Gervais), the curator of the Museum of Natural History. This film, which also stars Robin Williams, Mickey Rooney, Owen Wilson, and Rebel Wilson, is available in both a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. I really don’t have a lot to quip about this franchise, seeing that I’ve never been a fan, but it’s the last role of two of the comedic greats of all time, so I’ll give it a pass.
