Hey there, ProFans! Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from remembering my fallen brothers and sisters in arms (11 years Navy) to bring you the latest in home media releases for May 27, 2014. In this week’s episode, we talk about the CIA, lawyers, an awkward remake, and the Doctor. Ready to get this thing started? Well, all right!
Covert Affairs: Season 4
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 100%
Piper Perabo stars in this scintillating spy series as Annie Walker, a CIA agent who gets to go globetrotting around the world under the watchful eye of her blind colleague and lover Auggie (Christopher Gorham). Annie gets to dive in and out of sticky situations with the fate of the Domestic Protection Division hanging in the balance. The show also stars Peter Gallagher, Gregory Itzin, and features Hill Harper in a few episodes as a local CIA chief in Columbia. This season is only available in a four-disc DVD version, but don’t let that dissuade you; the show is very good. The USA Network has a gift with picking fun shows, and this one is no exception.
Suits: Season 3
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 70%
Starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, and Gina Torres, Season Three of Suits shows the law firm Pearson Hardman merging with prestigious British firm Darby International, and the issues that lie therein, including the tenuous testing of loyalties as jobs are on the line. This 16-episode season also features the talents of Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, and Sarah Rafferty. This season, much like its fellow USA Network show Covert Affairs, is only available in a four-disc DVD version, but it’s worth a watch.
Endless Love (PG-13)

Okay… we can get through this together, folks. This movie is a remake of the 1981 classic by Franco Zeffirelli, which in turn was based on a novel of the same name. This movie stars Alex Pettyfer as David Elliott and Gabriella Wilde (real name Gabriella Zanna Vanessa Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe) as as Jade Butterfield. They play star-crossed lovers who have to deal with Admiral Christopher Pike - oh, I’m sorry… Bruce Greenwood who plays Jade’s father in the most menacing way possible. He’s probably mad because he had to be in this movie. The movie itself comes in both a two-disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single-disc DVD version. I’m sure there’s something good in this movie, but I’m not about to go looking for it. I’d rather watch the original.
Doctor Who: An Adventure in Space & Time

Part of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration, An Adventure in Space in Time tells the story of how the iconic show got its start. Starring David Bradley as William Hartnell, Jessica Rayne as Verity Lambert and Brian Cox as Sydney Newman, you get to see the behind the scenes footage of what would become a beloved show the world over, and how world events helped to shape the show from the very start. This movie comes in a three-disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, which also include the Doctor Who series premiere “An Unearthly Child”; it is certainly worth your time. Project Fandom loves anything that comes from the BBC, and I would be considered a heretic if I didn’t name this my pick of the week, so there you go.
