Howdy, ProFans! Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from watching the Washington Wizards actually do well in the NBA playoffs to bring you the latest releases in home media for May 6, 2014. In this week’s episode, we discuss Marshmallows, the Batman, and the longest rookie season in history. All set? Let’s hop to it.
The Veronica Mars Movie (PG-13)

On the eve of graduating law school, Veronica Mars has put Neptune and her amateur sleuthing days behind her. While interviewing at high-end New York law firms, Veronica Mars gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Logan who has been accused of murder. Veronica heads back to Neptune just to help Logan find an attorney, but when things don’t seem right with how Logan’s case is perceived and handled, Veronica finds herself being pulled back into a life she thought she had left behind. This movie comes in both a single-disc Bluray + Digital Copy version and a single-disc DVD + Digital Copy version. Listen, folks… whether or not I’ve seen a nanosecond of this series is inconsequential; it’s pretty much a guarantee that this series is bigger than any one person’s opinion - even the opinion of someone here who’s followed it from day one. So, because I don’t want to die by Marshmallow attack, this movie will be my pick of the week. That, and I promise I’ll watch it one of these days, okay?

Son of Batman (PG-13)

The Dark Knight (voice of Jason O’Mara) discovers that he has a son with Talia al Ghul (voice of Morena Baccarin), and that the young boy is driven by the same fiery vengeance as his crime-fighting father in this adaptation of the 2006 comic book arc by Grant Morrison. Trained as a young boy by the League of Assassins, Batman and Talia’s son Damian (voice of Stuart Allan) grows convinced that his grandfather Ra’s al Ghul was killed by the villainous Deathstroke (voice of Thomas Gibson). This movie comes in both a two-disc Bluray/DVD + DIgital Copy version and a single-disc DVD version. Even if comic book fans are still iffy about the DC films (Green Lantern sucked, Man of Steel was great, and so was the Dark Knight Trilogy; I don’t wanna hear it), no one can criticize the DC Animated Universe for being anything but spectacular. This is one of those that should go on the bookcase along with the rest of their offerings.
Rookie Blue: The Complete Fourth Season
With three years under their belt, the rookies of 15 Division know that rolling with the punches is more than just a life lesson; it’s an essential part of the job. Change is the only constant, and if you don’t adapt, you’re left behind. Now, for these five officers, the time has come to look change right in the eye and make some big, bold choices. This series is only available on a four-disc DVD version, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. Give it a watch; you might find something new to enjoy.
