What’s going on, ProFans? Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from freezing to death to bring you the latest in home media for November 18, 2014. In this week’s episode, we discuss buddy cops, teenage angst, and a sequel that was nine years in the making. Ready to get to it? Let’s go.
22 Jump Street (2 Discs) [Blu-ray]

Schmidt and Jenko are back, baby! Jonah Hill and Charming Potato - I mean, Channing Tatum reprise their roles in this blockbuster sequel to the hilarious 21 Jump Street. The boys are back, and this time, they’re in college. The mission is the same as before, but with the added backdrop of an institution of higher learning, there is absolutely no way for this to go wrong…is it? This movie is available in both a two disc Bluray/DVD version and a single disc DVD version. This movie is a lot of fun, and it was better than everyone could’ve ever imagined; plus, it came from the movie that was a surprise hit the year it was released. For that alone, it is my pick of the week.

Chloë Grace Moretz stars as Mia Hall, a teenager who’s biggest choice in life is whether or not to go to Julliard to pursue her musical dreams or stay at home with her beloved boyfriend Adam (Jamie Blackley). However, an unfortunate incident happens that puts her future - as well as her life - in the balance. This movie is available in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. I don’t really do teen angst anymore, but I can understand the genre when it comes on my screen. As much as I like Chloë Grace Moretz, I think I’ll pass on this one.
Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For [Blu-ray]

The followup to 2004’s Sin City, this movie brings us back to the genre Frank Miller made famous, and it is none the worse for wear. Four storylines are interwoven within each other to tell the tale of the seedy underbelly of the world around it. This movie, which stars Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, and Eva Green, is available in a three disc 3D Bluray/Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. This movie wasn’t on my radar, and it wasn’t because of my feelings on Frank Miller; no, I wasn’t interested in it because it looked cheesy. Even the great performance of Eva Green couldn’t save this movie for most people who’ve reviewed it. If you want to return to this genre, feel free. I’ll be over here drinking coffee.
