BluTuesday - November 26, 2013
What’s good, ProFans? Joseph here, and I’m taking a break fro my turkey preps to bring you the latest and greatest in home media for November 26, 2013. In this week’s episode, we’ll talk about violent old people and a double dose of meth. Got your stuffing handy? Let’s dig in.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 41%
Retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses (Willis) reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive assassins, terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the superweapon. This movie comes in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD + Digital Copy version. I gotta be honest: I’ve never seen this movie. I saw the first one and was turned off by Mary-Louise Parker’s inability to pronounce “Mobile, AL”. On top of that, it was just not a good movie. I don’t know if this one is any better, but if you liked the first one, maybe you’ll like the second one as well.
Breaking Bad: The Final Season (+UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]
It all ends with a bang! In the final episodes, Emmy winners Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul bring the saga of Breaking Bad to a bloody conclusion in their roles as meth kingpin Walter White and his guilt-ridden partner Jesse Pinkman. As each tries to get clear of the wreckage they left behind in the meth world, DEA agent Hank Schrader’s obsessive pursuit of ‘Heisenberg’ gains steam, leading up to a shattering finale that will leave no one in Walt’s world unscathed. Executive Produced by Vince Gilligan, Mark Johnson and Michelle MacLaren, the final episodes bring the unforgettable story of Walter White to its inevitable close. This season comes in both a two disc Bluray version and a three disc DVD version. Under any normal circumstances, this would be my pick of the week. But, this is far from normal, so it’s not.
Breaking Bad: The Complete Series (+UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]
Walter White is a down-on-his-luck chemistry teacher struggling to make ends meet for his wife and physically challenged son. Everything changes when Walter receives a startling diagnosis: terminal lung cancer. With only a few years to live and nothing to lose, Walter uses his training as a chemist to cook and sell crystal meth with one of his former students. As his status grows, so do his lies, but Walt will stop at nothing to make sure his family is taken care of after he’s gone, even if it means putting all their lives on the line. This series comes in a 16 disc Bluray set, and it has a collector’s barrel filled with goodies. This is a groundbreaking series, and as such, it’s my pick of the week.
