What’s good, ProFans? Joseph here, and I’ve got the new releases on home media for October 22, 2013. In this week’s episode, we talk about ghost hunters, bad comedies, badass fighters, and vampires. All comfy? Let’s get to it, then.
The Conjuring (Blu-Ray + DVD + UltraViolet Combo Pack)

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on the true life story, The Conjuring tells the tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most horrifying case of their lives. This movie comes in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. I don’t do horror, but…from everything I’ve heard, this movie is legitimately scary. So much so, I’m picking this as my pick of the week.

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson team up to crash the digital world in this laugh-out-loud buddy comedy you’ve been searching for! Trying to reboot their obsolete careers, old-school salesmen Billy (Vaughn) and Nick (Wilson) talk their way into an internship program at the state-of-the-art Google campus, vying for a handful of spots among tech-savvy college students who are half their age and twice as smart. The competition is fiercely funny as Billy and Nick break all the rules in a hilarious quest to land their dream jobs! This movie comes in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. This was an attempt to recapture the magic of Wedding Crashers, but it was met with a ton of “meh”. Maybe the unrated version will be better, but I’m gonna pass.
Nikita: The Complete Third Season [Blu-ray]
In a game-changing turnaround, Nikita (Maggie Q), Michael (Shane West) and CIA analyst Ryan Fletcher (Noah Bean) are heading Division, and have been tasked by the U.S. president to clean up after the previous regime. With punk hacker Seymour (Stanford) hardwired to the cause, Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) in the fold, and Owen (Devon Sawa) back from a Russian prison, the new team has all the tech, muscle and spy power they need to round up the Dirty Thirty, rogue assassins who remain at large around the globe. But Amanda (Melinda Clarke) has Division in her crosshairs, the Oval Office wants the job done yesterday, and the operation suffers devastating physical hits. Nikita must use every asset in her power to hold it together for the mission, her man, her future and her freedom. This series comes in both a four disc Bluray version and a five disc DVD version. I loved watching this show when it first came on the air; my lack of follow-up has less to do with the show’s quality and more with the lack of time I have available. This is as good a way as any to pick it back up.
Blood-C: Last Dark [Blu-ray/DVD Combo]
Tokyo, Winter. Despite the use of the Youth Ordinance Bill to enforce curfews for minors and regulate the use of the Internet, young people continue to fight for their own freedom through underground methods. One such group calls themselves Surat. They have decided to take on Fumito Nanahara, a man who has great influence on the political world, and basically controls Tokyo with an iron fist. While using the Internet as a weapon to discover more information about Fumito, they learn about “Tower”, the secret organization behind Fumito which engages in human experimentation. When members of Surat attempt to set up an ambush in the subway to expose the truth behind “Tower”, mysterious creatures suddenly appear and attack the passengers. During this crisis, Saya appears - a young girl who uses a Japanese blade to slay the Old Ones. This movie comes in both a two disc Bluray/DVD version and a single disc DVD version. Blood always creeped me out when I first started watching anime, and I’m sure this will be no different. Check it out for a good scare.
