BluTuesday - October 7, 2014

Hey, ProFans! Joseph here, and I’m taking a break from catching up on my podcasts to bring you the latest releases in home media for October 7, 2014. In this week’s episode, we talk about infinite respawning and a lot of TV. Ready to get to it? Let’s do it.

Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD UltraViolet Combo Pack)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 90%

What would you do if you were to die, only to wake up like nothing ever happened? That’s the premise of this sci-fi action movie starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. When Army Major William Cage (Cruise) is forcefully demoted and sent to the front lines to face an alien threat, he dies in combat…only to find himself brought back to life the day before. He discovers that he’s living the same day over and over again. Along the way, he meets Sergeant Rita Vrataski (Blunt), and they work together to fend off these aliens and save the world as we know it. This film - which also stars Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson - is available in a three disc 3D Bluray/Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, and a single disc DVD version. I really loved this movie when it came out; I went in with high expectations based on the trailer, and I left even more excited than I was when I walked in. This is a movie you really need to see to believe, and it’s my pick of the week.

Sharknado 2: The Second One

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 56%

They’re back! The murderous tornado infested with sharks has returned to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting populace. This time, they attack New York City, because…why not? Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return to the sequel, and they’re joined by a veritable cornucopia of “Who?”: Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Judah Friedlander, Kari Wuhrer, Kelly Osborne, Perez Hilton, Al Roker, Matt Lauer, and a host of other B to ZZ list celebrities. This movie - if you choose to call it as such - is available in both a single disc Bluray version and a single disc DVD version. You can watch this if you want to; I’ll be watching Edge of Tomorrow again.

Now, we have a few good TV shows coming to home media, and our top picks are as follows:

Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss something you wanted to discuss? Feel free to hit me up in the comments section below.

Until next time…
