What’s good, ProFans? Joseph here, and I’ve got the newest releases to home media on September 24, 2013. In this week’s episode, we feature Robert Downey, Jr., more Doctors than you can shake a stick at, and the creepiest guy alive. Ready to go? Allons-y!

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? This film comes in a three disc 3D Bluray/Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, and a single disc DVD version. This movie was a hell of a lot of fun; not as good as The Avengers (but…what is?), but it’s miles away better than Iron Man 2. Any other week, this would be my pick of the week, but that’s not happening this week. Why? Because of one of our next two releases.
Doctor Who: The Complete Seventh Series
Matt Smith returns as the Eleventh Doctor in thirteen blockbuster episodes plus two specials, each a brand new epic adventure with new monsters and familiar foes like you’ve never seen them before. In The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, a madcap caretaker greets evacuee Madge Arwell and her two children and leads them into a magical wintry world. Then, the first part of Series Seven sees the Ponds (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) in their final voyage with The Doctor. They save a spaceship full of dinosaurs, don Stetsons in the Wild West and are even kidnapped by The Doctor’s oldest foe. But when they arrive in Manhattan the Weeping Angels are waiting for them. Christmas brings The Doctor a new friend (Jenna-Louise Coleman) but how, where, and when will he meet her? And the final eight episodes see The Doctor and his new companion battle monsters on distant alien planets, become trapped in a Russian submarine with a deadly passenger, chase terrifying ghosts, and come face to face with an army of upgraded Cybermen, while The Doctor’s oldest secret threatens to be revealed. Packed with extras, the complete seventh series is not to be missed. This series comes in a four disc Bluray version and a five disc DVD version. We at Project Fandom love anything from the BBC, and this is no exception to the rule. The series had some hits (“Asylum of the Daleks” was fun) and misses (“The Rings of Akhaten”…beautiful scenery, horrible episode; almost as bad as Love and Monsters from Series Two), but it’s The Doctor, and The Doctor is awesome. Any other week, THIS would be my pick of the week, but that’s not happening this week. Why? Because of what’s next.
Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special: The Day of the Doctor
The world’s longest-running sci-fi series is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with an explosive special, The Day of the Doctor, coming to DVD and 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. The special stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, and Jenna Coleman with Billie Piper and Academy Award nominee John Hurt. It promises to be an adventure for the ages and a celebration of Doctor Who unlike any other. This episode will be released in a 3D Bluray/Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a DVD version. This is only available for pre-order, so the synopsis itself is (understandably) misleading. But…who cares?! It’s the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors together! It’s Rose (although I would’ve preferred either Martha or Donna) and Clara…together! It’s John Hurt! And, it’s my pick of the week.
FBI Agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) hunts the most notorious serial killers. Graham is both gifted and cursed with an extraordinary ability: he can think like his prey, seeing what they see and feeling what they feel. What he doesn’t know is that his new partner is the most notorious serial killer of all. While pursuing an especially troubling, cannibalistic murderer, Special Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) teams Graham with a highly respected psychiatrist - a man with a taste for the criminally minded: Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Dr. Lecter tests Graham every step of the way, toying with him and playing a game all his own, while they work to unravel the mystery and catch the killer. Like only Lecter can, he twists Graham’s mind, daring him to question everything he knows about others…and himself. This season comes in both a three disc Bluray + Digital Copy version and a four disc DVD version. This show is CREEPY, and Mads Mikkelsen is scary as hell. Check it out!
