What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from tech rehearsals to bring you the latest releases to home media for September 26, 2017. In this week’s episode, we discuss never going in the ocean, robots behaving badly, modern Western lawmen, disfunction junction, and learning a particular set of skills. Let’s get to it.
47 Meters Down (PG-13)

Lisa (Mandy Moore) is fresh off a horrible breakup and wants to get away. So, she runs off to Mexico with her adventurous sister Kate (Claire Holt), and the pair decide to go shark diving. However, when the worst happens and they lose all contact with the outside world, it’s a fight for survival - both against the sharks and their own dwindling oxygen supplies. This film, which also stars Yani Gellman, Matthew Modine, and Santiago Segura, is available in a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version and a single disc DVD version. Look…I’m the person who holds his breath during an underwater sequence of a movie because I’m admittedly an odd bird. If I watched this, I’d die. If you have a better mental constitution than I do when it comes to these types of movies, then you’ll absolutely love this.
Transformers: The Last Knight (PG-13)

In the latest entry in the Transformers franchise as helmed by Michael Bay, the eponymous Transformers are at war with humanity, Autobot leader Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) is gone, and the fate of both worlds lie in the hands of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee (an annoying mix of tv and radio soundbites), Sir Edmund Burton (Sir Anthony Hopkins), and Oxford professor Vivian Wembley (Laura Haddock). May the gods have mercy upon us all. This film, which also stars Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Goodman, is available in a three disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a three disc 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD + Digital HD version. I believe I’ve said this with each subsequent release of this turgid franchise, and I’ll continue to do so: I absolutely loved the first Transformers movie; it made me feel like I was a kid again, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. The only way the second one was remotely tolerable was if I divided it in two parts, and that was a hell of a drop-off. I’ve only seen the third one once, and I’ll never watch it again, and I haven’t seen one since Dark of the Moon, and I can’t seem to think of any reason I’d ever go back. Don’t watch this one. Please.
Longmire: The Complete Fifth Season
In the fifth season of this series, sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) is in a world of trouble; he’s fighting for his life, his daughter Cady (Cassidy Freeman) and his best friend, Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips), are working for his archival Jacob Nighthorse (A. Martinez), and he’s fighting the urge to start a relationship with his right hand deputy Victoria Moratti (Katee Sackoff). As things start to get heavier and heavier in Absaroka County, will Longmire be able to continue to protect the people of the county he loves, or will this spell the beginning of the end for him? This series, which also stars Adam Bartley, Louanne Stephens, and Bailey Chase, is available in a four disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. I gotta be honest here; until today, I had never heard of this series. But, it does seem pretty interesting, so I may wander back through it sometime and check it out.
Shameless: The Complete Seventh Season
Picking up one month after the events of season six, things are starting to change for the Gallagher family. Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is trying to do better for herself as she takes over Patsy’s, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) is fresh out of rehab, Ian (Cameron Monaghan) has a stable job as an EMT and has a stable relationship, Debby (Emma Kennedy) begins to settle in with her daughter Franny, and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) has some decisions to make when Frank (William H. Macy) starts on a roaring rampage of revenge when he realizes his family threw him in the river. This series, which also stars Steve Howey, Isidora Goreshter, and Alan Rosenberg, is available in a two disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. Somehow, this show seems to up the ante on crazy, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Strap in and go along for the ride.

Ever wondered how Bryan Mills got his particular set of skills? Well, you’re about to find out. Mills (Clive Standen) is a former Green Beret who finds his world turned upside down thanks to a personal tragedy. As he tries to overcome this trauma, he’s hired by a secret government agency who sees his Green Beret skills and wants to put them to a particular use. This series, which also stars Gaius Charles, Jennifer Beals, and Brooklyn Sudano, is available in a two disc Blu-ray + Digital HD version and a three disc DVD version. Well…I was never curious about how he got his particular set of skills, but if you were, check this out.
