DragonCon 2015 Cosplay
Every year, DragonCon descends upon the cultural hotbed of Atlanta, Georgia, bringing with it several integral pieces from all fandoms and arenas under the sun. From film to comics, from television to fine art, from gaming to literature; it’s all represented at the annual convention. Over time, however, one area has come to mean the most to DragonCon attendees and serve to distinguish the event from others like it: Cosplay.
Yes, if you attend any convention around the world, you’re going to run into any number of cosplayers, but DragonCon is simply a beast of an entirely different nature. If you’re remotely serious about your cosplay, your goal is to display your skills in the humid Atlanta September. It may not quite be Sinatra’s “New York, New York”, but if a cosplayer can make it at DragonCon, they can make it anywhere.
I attended this year and took the below pictures (other than the one of me and the Game of Thrones cosplay); I also participated by cosplaying as Doppler from the recently cancelled Image Comics series C.O.W.L.. Picking the biggest cosplay event of the year to attempt my first foray into cosplay may not have been the best decision I’ve ever made, but it ultimately turned out a success.
