First Teaser Trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

One of the most hotly anticipated films of next year has finally dropped its teaser trailer, giving us our first real look into the closely guarded world of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

In Gravity, one of this year’s best films-and what I still consider this year’s best film (or at least my favorite one), we were given a take on space exploration from visionary director Alfonso Cuaron’s trademark style of one-shots and suspense. Next July, we’ll be taken on an entirely different adventure with The Wachowskis’ unique style launches into space with Jupiter Ascending. In August, James Gunn will give us a look at what the edges of space are like in Marvel’s universe with Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, in November, we will round out our galactic travels with what is sure to be the most ambitious of at least the 2014 releases when Christopher Nolan not only takes us to space and beyond with Interstellar but does it in IMAX. Will the movie-going public tire of space films before they can even see Nolan’s movie?

Have a look at the teaser trailer and decide for yourself:

Not much to go on, right? It’s a true teaser in that sense, but the tone is certainly set. We humans are pioneers, and space was to be our final frontier. Now, we must go further. As the film’s star Matthew McConaughey says in the teaser’s voiceover, “We’ve always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible.” That’s what the film’s theme would seem to be, as a crew of explorers attempt to go where humans have never ventured… interstellar space… using wormholes; that’s basically all of the plot that has been allowed to leak. You may think you’ve seen this plot before, but you’ve never seen anything like what Christopher Nolan is sure to deliver. In his first film since completing The Dark Knight Trilogy, Nolan will look to repeat the success of his previous original film Inception, and it would seem he and his brother Jonathan are well on their way to achieving that success.

Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, and starring new Nolan collaborators Matthew McConnaughey and Jessica Chastain with returning collaborators Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) and Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Prestige, and Inception) will take viewers into ludicrous speed on November 7, 2014.

John is currently untitled. This complete lack of definition would drive most into abject bitterness and utter despair, but not someone of John’s virility. No, John is the picture of mental stability and emotional platitude.
