HBO Announces True Blood Season 7 Will Be the End

HBO has made it official: the next season of True Blood, the show’s 7th, will be the last. Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, True Blood has been a success for the network, pulling in an average of more than 10 million viewers per week.

True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO,” said HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo. “Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”

The final season will air in the summer of 2014, run for 10 episodes, and see the return of all the major characters including Alexander Skarsgard.
