Money Ain’t a Thang (but It Is)

They just had sex and now the honeymoon is over. Jane and Michael struggle with a very real (and very unsexy) marriage issue. Finances. As much as we watch Jane for the fairy tale, it’s nice to see this couple come down to earth a bit. Thankfully, Jane doesn’t run off to cry in Rafael’s arms and Michael doesn’t run off to cry in Rogelio’s. They argue, they get space and they deal with it. Like normal, healthy couples do. We need more normal, healthy couples on our television.

Hard Out Here for a Pimp

Rogelio can’t sell himself, so he has to sell Rafael to Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Man, I’m old. Jane convinces Rafael to play along, but he can’t go through with the full indecent proposal. Luckily, Rogelio has a heart-to-heart with Luisa (of all people) and sees Rafael in a new light. Is Rogfeal the new Mogelio? I hope not.

Ane(ska) Are You Ok?

He bribes. She blackmails. Aneska met the man of her dreams with a flamingo agenda. If she can successfully blackmail Rafael and can get out from under Magda’s big, burly thumb, these two kids might have a shot. Yeah, right. Her sister’s ex-husband might not have noticed any foul play (even after having sex with her. Really, Rafael?), but Petra’s OTP caught on pretty quick. I’m excited to see how this goes down. Finally.

Miss You Much

Xiomara and Alba deal a Jane-less house and discover that their relationship will be okay without an intermediary. Xio may still be career-searching, but Alba seems to have found her true calling (and maybe her true love) in the gift shop. The ghost child Jane was a sweet touch (but also slightly creepy).

Fun, Fun, Fun

  • The flamingo outfits and the pool girl fight made this episode.
  • More Lena, please. We need more normal, healthy friendships on our television
  • Luisa and Rogelio was an unexpected, but rather enjoyable, pairing. He tempers her annoyingness.

Summary

This was a perfectly okay, perfectly forgettable episode of Jane. I’ll remember the spectacular flamingo outfits, but not much else. It was pink fluff. NOTE: My Election Day hangover may be coloring my review.
