Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S2E14 - Love in the Time of Hydra
Previously on AoS, ‘One of Us’
The theme of this week’s episode is trust. Ward takes advantage of Agent 33’s identity crisis and leads her to believe he is helping her get closure. He assists her in finding the man who can repair the damage to her face that May caused while Agent 33 had on the nano mask. Fully trusting Ward, the two break into the Air Force base where Sunil Bakshi, the one responsible for prepping her for the mission that damaged her face, is being held prisoner. Bakshi is thrilled to see Agent 33 and quickly upset to see Ward. When he asks Agent 33 who’s side is she on, she replies, “My own.
Coulson is running out of options on keeping Skye safe. He’s decided to take her to a cabin in the woods that is a safe house for people with powers. Skye doesn’t like it, but Coulson follows protocol in his own way. To help Skye, Coulson had Simmons make gloves that inhibit her powers and will help in her recovery time. There are side effects that are unknown at this time. Skye pleads for Coulson’s advice. He doesn’t have the answer. Coulson tells her she can figure it out on her own because she is one of the few people he trusts.
Hunter is brought to the real S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters to meet the four leaders. Gonzales, one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D., feels Coulson is headed down the same dark path as Fury. Fury kept too many secrets as Coulson does now. The leaders are worried because Fury injected Coulson with alien DNA and it’s affected his decisions. Their reasons for not trusting Coulson anymore include: he kept searching for the alien city, the tragedy in Puerto Rico, Tripp’s death, Raina’s transformation, and Skye being affected. Hunter is not convinced Coulson is bad. Bobbi’s support for these leaders causes Hunter to lose trust in Bobbi. He tries to convince her to walk away, but she refuses. Hunter discovers he is on an aircraft carrier out in the middle of the ocean. He escapes in a submersible pod. Bobbi convinces the founders she wants to go back in and eliminate Coulson’s secrets.
Things I liked about this episode:
- Ward is back and he’s acting less creepy
- Skye and Coulson eating red licorice as if they were identical twins.
- Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galatica) and Kirk Acevedo (12 Monkeys TV series)
- Hunter’s sarcastic lines are on the way up to being as good as Veronica Mars witty quotes.
Unanswered questions:
- What is Ward’s true motive for finding Bakshi?
- When will Skye be allowed to use her powers?
- When did the agents start having karaoke night, and why was I not invited?

Until next week…
Another good one, Heather! Is Coulson good or bad? The reason I’m wondering is because he is keeping secrets from his own team.
Team Coulson all the way!
