Missed HBO Presidential References
There has been a lot of hubbub made, lately, over HBO’s prop department using somewhat questionable presidential items. First, Game of Thrones put the head of President Bush on a pike, and now True Blood threw some President Obama masks on a group of gun-toting thugs. These occurrences got us here at VaginaCon to thinking: what other presidential references could HBO have subliminally made that may have been missed over the years? The results, quite frankly, were shocking.
First, the recent events that have everyone losing their heads, so to speak. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss made the mistake of pointing this one out in the DVD commentary of the show’s first season. The fact that it took months for anyone to notice is evidence that nobody really listens to DVD commentaries
Then, on the July 8th episode of True Blood, this scene showed a truck full of Obama mask wearing thugs pulled up firing shotguns. It was like a backwoods mashup of Dukes of Hazzard and Point Break.
The first of the forgotten moments that we dug up comes from Harold and the Purple Crayon. We don’t know how this scene of Harold explaining the Zapruder film ever made it onto the show, but it’s more surprising that nobody made a fuss over it. Those must have been simpler times.
And who could forget the time Eastbound & Down’s Kenny Powers sported a Lincoln hat? Everybody, apparently, and we are ashamed of you all.
The hit HBO show Girls has come under a lot of fire for the lack of diversity in its cast, but there has been no mention of the collateral damage suffered by Marnie’s blue dress at the… uh… hands of President Clinton
Lastly, we return to Game of Thrones, with an exclusive image from next season. We’ve learned that a white walker is going to demand the King “Tear down The Wall!”. We’d like to think President Reagan would actually be proud of that one.
I totally watched True Blood this past Sunday and did not notice those Obama masks. I was probably still in a shirtless Alcide stupor.
Well, nobody can blame you for that.
And now I’m thinking about it again!
Now, there could be some blame to be had.
The blue dress was just wrong on so many levels. Ha ha ha ha!
I know! Personally, I couldn’t believe HBO went there.
Hahahahaha
This is awesome! And we all thought Marnie was wicked upright!?
*Uptight ….upright is apparently not her thing judging by the dress.
I’m only 4 episodes in, but I already think she’s a whore.
She’s a wicked whore, who does not enjoy being wicked upright.
I just wanted to use “wicked”, too.
