More 24 For a Limited Time

FOX is reportedly working to bring back their hit show 24 as a limited series. After 8 seasons the show starring Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorist agent badass Jack Bauer went off the air in 2010. There’d been talk of a feature length film, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Instead, 24 fans will have to settle for a limited series… whatever that means.

I’m assuming - bad, I know - that means it will come back in its usual format: 24 1-hour episodes that cover a day in the life of shit hitting the fan and Jack Bauer saving the day, each episode occurring in “real time,” meaning that a character won’t start off in Los Angeles at the start of the hour, hop on a plane, and be in China 55 minutes later. As a limited series, we’ll get one definite 24-episode season, with no real commitment from the network to do another season if it sucks.

According to the report, Sutherland is in talks to reprise his iconic role, and why not? It earned him an Emmy and his latest undertaking, the FOX drama Touch, has been cancelled after just two seasons.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that the new season of 24 will be 13 episodes.
