Let me tell you what I’m not here for:

Bruno *clap* better *clap* not *clap* be *clap* Discord. *clap*

The only reason to keep a villain’s identity a secret is to hide the fact that it’s someone the hero or the audience already knows as a friend. This issue, Kamala has yet another run-in with Discord and Lockdown, and can’t shake the feeling that she knows him. His talk of returning Jersey City to “normal” when it was a nice place to live sounds like something Bruno might feel since he’s lost so much in the trouble that has plagued their neighborhood. Of course, it’s hard to imagine Bruno treating Kamala this way.

The standout this issue are the opening pages and Aamir is being interrogated under suspicion of being an unregistered meta-human. He rightfully draws parallels to what they’re currently doing to the suspicion millions of Muslim Americans live under in their own country. Aamir has long been a favorite of mine; a character who could have easily been one-note has been fleshed out to often times display the real heart of the series. That makes it incredibly painful when Discord threatens keeping Aamir indefinitely if Kamala doesn’t turn herself in.

G. Willow Wilson has consistently woven real-life issues into this series and it’s always been done thoughtfully. I’m dying to see the rest of this arc play out. But, like I said…
