Neil Marshall To Return For More Game of Thrones Badassery
According to a source of EmpireOnline, director Neil Marshall has been asked to return to direct the season 4 finale of Game of Thrones. Fans of the show will remember that Marshall was brought in at the 11th hour to direct the second season’s penultimate episode, ‘Blackwater,’ which many agree is the best episode of the series to date, and the best hour of television last year.
It’s rumored that the final episode of season 4 will feature The Battle at Castle Black. When season 3 came to a close, an injured Jon Snow arrived at Castle Black with Ygritte and the other wildlings hot on his heels, we were still waiting for Mance Raydar to light “the biggest fire the north has ever seen,” and Stannis Baratheon had received word that the White Walkers and the wildlings were all advancing on The Wall. Will it really take a full season to get to the battle?
Perhaps, but with Marshall in the director’s chair, it’s a safe bet that the episode will be well worth the wait.
I’m a little annoyed at the fact that, if the pacing is true, we’ll have to wait until the end of season 4 to see the next big battle from the books. Although, I can’t see how they stretch out Ygritte and the other wildlings getting to Castle Black for nine episodes.
