Official Pacific Rim Trailer
A new trailer for Pacific Rim dropped this week; it’s labeled as the “Official Main Trailer”.
Warner Bros. Pictures released the trailer on Thursday, and it doesn’t terribly differ from the footage we saw at WonderCon, two weeks ago. What is different, though, is that we get a good bit of expository narration explaining the back story a little more. Basically, aliens have been hiding under the Pacific Ocean, they finally attacked, and we had to build huge robots to fight them.
Let me just stop right there; that should sell you. You need nothing more to make you want to see this; however, there is more. In case you’re unaware, it’s directed by Guillermo del Toro. The Guillermo del Toro. That means it’s not just going to be a “monster movie”; it’s going to be artistic as fuck… an artistic as fuck monster movie. Just look at how grand in scale it looks.
Sure, the CGI may not look 100% great, but it’s basically Gundam + War of the Worlds + Rampage; that equals a bad ass time in my math book. On top of that, it stars Idris Elba and Ron Perlman. Get this: it’s an American Kaiju film with a Mexican director, a black British star, it was filmed in Canada, and it’s primarily set in Asia. This couldn’t get more multicultural if it was Babel (coincidentally, Rinko Kikuchi is also in Pacific Rim). Let’s go to the movies.
