Outsiders - S2E5 - We Are Kinnah

Previously on Outsiders, “How We Hunt”

Welp. So much for G’Win being a few steps ahead. I hoped G’Win was only pretending to be so naive and trusting, but nope. She is genuinely surprised when Moregon confesses to burning the smokehouse because she believed the meat to be tainted. Of course, Moregon did more than this; she also killed a man and then publicly accused Big Foster of the arson. That’s exactly who G’Win turns to in order to enforce her command that the Kinnah leave their side of the mountain. Unlike G’Win, Moregon has been thinking ahead and already obtained all of the guns Big Foster had reclaimed for the hunt. She and the rest of the Kinnah take control of the camp, shooting a man to let everyone know they mean business.

Not sure how long the Kinnah will have the upper hand, especially after Wade finds the people Big Foster killed to escape. Even if he can’t link it to Big Foster right away, it’s possible he’ll make a trip up the mountain to ask questions.

They say do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. Well, I’m not sure there’s a job available doing the things Hasil loves, but he finds something he’s good at: fighting. After a less than lucrative day of day laboring, Hasil accompanies his new landlord, Butch (Barrett Hackney), as he deals drugs. A stop at an underground fight club leads Hasil to believe he’s found his calling. While I’m totally here for Hasil earning the money he needs to take care of Sally Ann and their baby, I hope this new job doesn’t mean they’ll be moving out of Butch’s place too quickly. I was digging the new roomie situation.

Let’s talk about Lil Foster. Am I the only one not feeling this prison storyline? I like that a Farrell being railroaded shows just how ruthless and corrupt Blackburg’s officials are, but having Lil Foster be that Farrell is such a waste. I’d much rather see him interact with his back-from-the-dead father. So far, everything that’s occurred in the prison feels like something we’ve seen before. It’s particularly frustrating because for much of season one, Outsiders felt like nothing we’d ever seen.
