Podcast Fandom Episode 90: Game of Thrones S4E5 ‘First of His Name’
In this episode:
- Cersei shows a softer side, but we’re sure she’s up to no good.
- Sansa meets her crazy-ass auntie.
- Arya shocks The Hound and we bet he’ll be sleeping with one eye open from now on.
- There’s a bit of Beyonce’s ‘Drunk in Love.’
- Bran violates Hodor.
- Jon is ALL.THE.THINGS.
- And we learn that the Lannisters do not, in fact, shit gold.
Poor Nina, I thought during the Spoiler section she was going to fall asleep and 20 min of breathing would have been recorded. I think all the fans appreciate your dedication and insight in every podcast.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!
Turn back now…
The end is nigh!
Last chance!
In response to at what point does the Iron Bank come into play specifically in the books, that’s not well into the 5th book. Davos does not play a role in cutting that deal because he is on a mission to bring Rickon Stark back from an island where he was hidden away (that information was courtesy of the Manderlays). Jon Snow sends the Braavosi representative Tycho Nestoris to Crofters’ village. Once there, Stannis cuts the deal and sends knight Justin Massey goes with him to bring the army back to save/reinforce the realm at the wall even if he perishes with the looming battle for Winterfell.
Not a dealbreaker but what I didn’t like about the change on the show, it ruins the whole suspense, leading into Book Six. Who sent the Pink letter? Does Jon warn Stannis about the Karstarks in time? Will the Iron Bank’s hired guns arrive in time?
That’s why every one is chomping at the bit for Book Six.
Here’s another possible detour, will we see Theon Greyjoy’s uncles?
Thanks, Ronald. Hopefully next week I’ll do the spoiler section at a decent hour.
Thanks for the reminder! So much info and it doesn’t help that we’ve been waiting so long for the next book.
I was listening to Bald Move’s spoiler section and Aron was saying how he thinks they may skip all the kingsmoot stuff. I don’t know if I want them to skip it, but I hope they speed up the pace there as well.
Book six has to come out this year, right? Right?!
