Don’t let that cover fool you; I didn’t. When things get this happy in Saga, it means some heartache is sure to follow. And this issue presented plenty of opportunities for shit to go left sooner than later.

It begins with a steamy sex scene between Alana and Marko, and after they consider whether they made the right call in not taking up Doff and Upsher on their offer to get new identities in exchange for selling their story. Marko is confident they made the right decision.

Meanwhile, Prince Robot IV is comfortable with his decision to reveal government collusion for a new life; he just wishes it would happen sooner. Doff and Upsher assure him that once their story has been verified, their editor will look to publish the story within the week. Petrichor breaks the news to Hazel that she’ll be joining the Prince and Squire, and that doesn’t go over well since Hazel has taken a liking to having someone around who’s her age. Separating children is never easy, and the fact that they’re of different species doesn’t change that. While PRIV and Petrichor have their sights set on new beginnings, Squire plans to run away.

And if that wasn’t enough to tell you this won’t end well, Ianthe corners a former co-worker of Doff and Upsher, and using the Will as her muscles, demands he tell her where the journalists’ safehouse is located.
