When we last left our intrepid lawyer, she - along with Hank Pym - had just saved New York from imminent destruction from an unstable shrinking product. Riding high from that victory, she found out she had another client, and this one was the most awe-inspiring of them all: Captain America himself, Steve Rogers. Steve - who at this point had begun to show his proper age - wanted to hire Jennifer to defend him in a murder trial from 70 years ago. Jennifer accepted, but had to figure out a loophole to defend him, as she’s barred from practicing law in California. She tries to use Matt Murdock’s office, but he coldly and suddenly ends the call when he finds out who she’s defending. She eventually finds an office to work out of, and sets forth to defend one of Earth’s Mightiest Avengers.
This issue introduces us to Matt Rocks. Matt is a clone of Jamie Madrox, aka Multiple Man, and he’s working as an entertainment lawyer in LA. Matt is…well, Matt is a character. He’s flamboyant, he’s fun, and he can talk a mile a minute. He would be the world’s greatest used car salesman; that is, until you decided to punch him in the face. He has an army of copies of himself that work with him, although they aren’t necessarily the sharpest tools in the shed. I’m gonna be honest with you, I kinda wanna see him get his own book; I can only imagine the trouble he would get himself into.

With the return of Javier Pulido to do the art, I feel confident in saying this was the most entertaining issue yet. It had a lot of suspense and buildup, and - although one of the plot points was readily apparent…especially if you look at the damn cover - the end panel was still jawdropping. It appears that the next few issues are going to tap into Charles Soule’s history as a lawyer, and they promise to be the best ones yet.
