She-Hulk - Vol. 3 #5

Previously, “Issue 4

When we last left our intrepid lawyer, she was about to dig into the dreaded “Blue File” that she picked up at the end of Issue 1 and find some form of closure. What she got ended up being a complete and total shock: the file was a lawsuit in which she was listed - along with several other superheroes. That’s not a good look, folks; in fact, that’s bad for one’s health… not to mention one’s business.

Jennifer splits her people up to tackle different areas: Angie Huang and her monkey Hei Hei travel to Crosby, South Dakota to take a look at some case files, Patsy goes to Manhattan and chats up Greer Grant Nelson aka Tigra, and Jen herself visits Queens to talk to Herman Schultz aka Shocker. What they find out is something that could rock their foundation to the core.

From the official Marvel Comics byline:

She-Hulk & Hellcat must uncover the secrets of the Blue File – a conspiracy that touches the entire Marvel Universe! This new mystery brings us She-Hulk’s most terrifying role ever: DEFENDANT! Charles Soule (THUNDERBOLTS) and Ron Wemberly (MIGHTY AVENGERS) continue the smash hit of All-New Marvel Now!

Charles Soule is his normal witty self, with excellent banter and great pacing. The artwork, on the other hand, is another story altogether. Ron Wimberly takes over for Javier Pulido, and…I hope it’s not permanent. I rather enjoyed Pulido’s artwork, and Wimberly’s work is leaving much to be desired. When I think of the artwork in this book, I don’t think of the artist from Thunderbirds. I will say this much, though; if it IS permanent, then I hope it grows on me, because this was a serious distraction, and it almost took me out of the story.

That aside, I still recommend this series, because it’s a very well written book. I just can’t say it’s well drawn anymore.
