Cindy Moon finally confronts the anger that has been keeping her company since her time in the bunker. With the help of her therapist, Cindy realizes she’s been holding on to the anger because it’s been all she’s known. It had gotten to the point where she was angry at the good things in her life: Mockingbird offering her a real job at S.H.I.E.L.D and Jameson giving her a raise.

In fact, via her latest session, Cindy acknowledges she has a lot of amazing things in her life, but most importantly, she’s not alone. Her brother, Albert, is progressing nicely and her friends are aware of her secret identity and support Cindy fully. She even has her ex-boyfriend, Hector, back in her life. Though, he’s now dead… or undead… affected by a bizarre explosion he has powers, but he’s not able to take solid form unless he’s in battle mode.

Things appear to be looking up, especially when her friends show her what they found while looking into Dr. Kapoor. They head to a facility where Cindy hopes she’ll find her parents, but they find a door that leads to what looks to be another dimension. Considering the whole thing is a set-up and they’re being watched, the door most certainly won’t lead to anything good.

Silk is at its best when Cindy deals with her past and how it affects her current struggles. I love that we’re back on the path to figuring out what happened to her family, and the Hector development is exciting, if not a little convenient.

I’ve not been the biggest fan of Tana Ford’s style, but there we quite a few fantastic panels in this issue: Silk transporting her friends with a web-swing, their group hug, and Cindy’s facial expressions as she works with her therapist. But the best was the moment she and Hector figure out that if he tackles her, they can actually hug.

Not sure how Hector will figure into Cindy’s story going forward, but I like the idea that she’ll have more support as the only people she had prior to this were other heroes popping in for short cameos. With her friends in the know, Albert thriving, and Hector someone who somewhat understands her new life, things are definitely looking up for Cindy Moon.
