A Warrior Needs A War

Now that Octavia has saved the remaining people on Earth from Praimfaya by winning the conclave and the bunker, the newest obstacle is ensuring there is enough supplies for the additional mouths to feed for the next five years. According to Jaha and Kara Cooper, a farm station engineer, there will not be enough supplies to go around.

Kara lost her father on the ark when he was floated and lost her husband on Earth when he was not one of the chosen to remain in the bunker. Kara blames Octavia for that because Octavia decided to save select members from all clans instead of just her own clan Skaikru. Kara stages a coup to hold hostage the floor that has all the food and the ability to produce food by sealing herself and select Skaikru members on the floor and locking out Grounders; Jaha and other Skaikru members who weren’t lucky enough to be inside when Kara made her move. This causes mass panic and Grounders looking for someone to take out their frustrations.

Jaha is placed in the crossfire as he’s attacked by the Grounders, but saved by Octavia. Octavia and Jaha attempt to work together to get to the floor so Jaha can override the door controls. Jaha refuses to do unless Octavia promises to command the Grounders to stand down to avoid innocent members on that floor to be executed for revenge. 

The Blood of our Enemies is Your Armor

Once Octavia gets to the entrance and sees Grounders trying to break the door down, she gives them a choice to make.

“You are Wonkru or you are the enemy of Wonkru. Choose.”

My God. Octavia is a beast with a sword, killing Grounder after Grounder repeating her ultimatum as she killed them until the final Grounder laid down his weapon. Jaha then opens the door for Octavia and she stops Kara from committing suicide so she can face judgment for her actions.

Unfortunately, when Jaha was attacked earlier he was stabbed in the stomach and with Abby and Kane locked on the floor with Kara, Jaha dies right after he overrides the door. His last words to Octavia did not fall on deaf ears because Octavia has now instilled her own punishment for breaking her laws. Whether you stole blankets, or you attempted to steal food, water, and supplies from the bunker occupants, Octavia puts all criminals in an arena to fight to the death. Kara survives this inaugural conclave and as we skip ahead six years we see that Kara, along with Gaia, Indra, and Ethan seem to be part of Octavia’s council. Before the credits role we see that new combatants have entered the arena including Kane.
