Previously on The Vampire Diaries, ‘While You Were Sleeping’

Everyone learns that Liv and her brother are witches working to stop the Travelers from achieving some mysterious goal. This involves Caroline and Enzo going to find the last male doppelgänger, Tom. Caroline couldn’t bring herself to kill Tom, even to protect Stefan, but Enzo does it anyway. Elena and Damon attend Jeremy’s parent-teacher conference and learn that he’s basically a hot-ass mess due to their unstable home environment. This just proves to Elena that she and Damon need to be apart. Jeremy agrees to help Liv and her brother, but insists that Matt and Tyler be in on it as well.

Caroline and Stefan watch as the Travelers drink buckets of Elena’s and Stefan’s blood, and then set themselves on fire. After they die, they go through Bonnie causing her great pain and to pass out on the floor. From her shadow comes a mysterious man.
