The Vampire Diaries - S7E16 - Days of Future Past
Previously on The Vampire Diaries, ‘I Would For You’
This episode was filled with backstabbing and double-crossing, and no Bonnie Bennet. The flashbacks are becoming increasingly more irrelevant now that we’re all caught up in present day. We get to see Stefan fall in love with Valerie all over again (ew!) and… that’s about it.
Matt has to answer to Enzo for releasing Rayna and letting him take the blame. Matt did so because his girlfriend apparently died during the three-year time jump, and her death had something to do with Stefan. It feels like this show has no idea what to do with Matt. Though, I do love that he’s fed up with all the vampire shit and how it has effectively ruined his town and his life. Here’s to hoping he keeps that edge and does something more interesting than pout over his dead girlfriend.
Valerie is a big fat lying liar who lies. In all the time she spent falling back in love with Stefan - or I should say, letting him fall in love with her because she never stopped loving him - she failed to mention there was a way for him to lose the scar, and therefore have no reason to remain on the run and go back to Caroline. None of this matters right now, because by the end of the episode Stefan’s trapped inside that damn stone and it went boom. Which brings me to…
The CW managed to kill off TWO lesbians in this episode. Nora and Mary-Lou did a Thelma and Louise and destroyed Rayna’s dagger while driving, sending their car up in flames. I would pour one out of these two homies, but I’m not wasting good coffee on characters who had potential to be interesting, but never quite got there.
