“Go Getters” offered a reprieve from Negan, but not his brand of terrorism and intimidation. And to top it all off, Gregory’s (Xander Berkeley) back and he’s still a dick.

Maggie suffered a small placenta abruption, but she and the baby are fine. Dr. Carson (R. Keith Harris) advises that she remain at Hilltop for the remainder of her pregnancy in case she has any further issues. This works for everyone but Gregory, who worries that The Saviors will figure out Hilltop’s role in Alexandria’s attack on the outpost.

He’s not wrong to worry. Even though Simon (Steven Ogg) later implies that he will be the Hilltop’s Saviors contact to replace the people killed at outpost, it’s kind of hard to believe that Negan wasn’t aware his people had expected Gregory’s head before they were all killed. In fact, in “Knots Untie” they specifically said Negan killed two of them because of a “light” offering, and that they could have their other man back if they killed Gregory. Whether this is story inconsistency or Negan pretending to not know of Hilltop’s involvement, he sends Simon to make sure Hilltop’s still in line.

Gregory is still arguing with Jesus, Maggie, and Sasha about whether the women can stay when the Saviors arrive. He instructs Jesus to hide them in a closet while he puts on a show for Simon. He feigns surprise at the news of the outpost’s demise and accepts Simon has his new Lord and Savior. In an effort to remain in their good graces, Gregory leads Simon to the door he thinks hides Maggie and Sasha, but Jesus hid them elsewhere. Simon does take the case of scotch that was in the closet, and then makes Gregory kneel for good measure.

Back at Alexandria, Rick and Aaron head out for a few days to scavenge for supplies, while Michonne opts to search on her own. She’s on board with Rick’s plan to go along, but clearly still needs to work things out on her own in order to be comfortable with her decision. She explains to Carl that though she doesn’t think Rick’s way is right, she’s also not sure he’s wrong. Enid (Katelyn Nacon) also leaves without telling anyone where she’s going because she wants to see Maggie. These people are just a few days removed from losing two of their own and having Negan slide his dick down Rick’s throat, and they’re right back to doing the same foolishness.

Since Carl was unable to stop her from leaving, when he arrives in a car to flatten the walker that was about to kill her, Enid assumes he was coming out to find her. They travel to Hilltop on foot - and later roller skates. Despite sharing a kiss, Enid cannot stop Carl from going after Negan; his real reason for leaving the subdivision. So while she goes inside to see Maggie, Carl stows away in one of the Saviors’ truck - the one headed for Negan.

It’s painfully obvious Gregory is a weak leader (even he knows it, deep down), so it doesn’t take much for Jesus, Maggie, and Sasha to overrule him. Maggie’s right hook might have also been a great motivator. But there’s no way Gregory can be trusted. He’ll give them up in a heartbeat, especially if he finds himself falling out of a favor with the Saviors. For now, though, the women make themselves comfortable in their new home. Hilltop may be just what they need - a place without constant reminders of what they lost - to start grieving and find peace.

In the meantime, Sasha (like Carl) isn’t content to sit back and accept the new way of things. Jesus stows away in the same truck as Carl, attempting to fulfill his promise to Sasha that he’ll find out where Negan lives.
