Thors #4

While the end of Secret Wars seems to be taking forever, the tie-ins have been (for the most part) excellent and unique - none more so than Thors, which I’d described before as Marvel meets The Wire. The entire story took place in a special department of Battleworld’s lawkeepers: the murder police. It hit all the right police procedural beats from the high-profile, must-solve cases to the offbeat forensics specialist (Frog of Thunder).
The finale was no exception: police corruption was revealed and when Thors were pitted against Thors, what it really meant to be Thor made all the difference.
Rune Thor and his partner Destroyer Thor were the ones responsible for killing all the Jane Fosters. The pull between Jane Foster and Thor survived the end of the universe, and it was threatening to reveal Battleworld as a fraud. Rune and Destroyer were not about to let that happen. As bad guys often do, they saw themselves as doing this for the greater good.
Rune believes he only has to get rid of Ultimate Thor to keep what they’ve done hidden and then he’s home free. But he didn’t count on one last Jane Foster: Thor.
She’s the one who unites the Thors behind the truth, and reveals Doom’s deception. After the traitors are taken care of, she and Ultimate Thor lead the way to Doomsgard, where they’ll attempt to smite a fake god.

Summary
This was a satisfying ending to a series that has been mostly flawless. It had been so long between issues that I felt like I’d missed something in terms of Thor’s appearance, and it would have been nice to have a bit more Loki.
But the high action, crisp dialogue, and beautiful art (particularly in the fighting panels) made up for any lack in storytelling.
